The first innovation weekend titled Social Innovation Weekend Prague 2018 will cover social topics associated with the Visegrad Four (V4) countries, taking place Nov. 23–25 at the Business Link co-working space in Prague's Holešovice district.
Students or anyone else with ideas on ways of improving contemporary society can sign-up online at www.SIW2018.eu by November 11, 2018.
Within three days and 48 hours of pure work, the goal of the 60 selected innovators will be to delve into three key topics: Overindebtedness; education and access to information by deaf people; or the generation gap when transferring knowledge.
All solutions that will come to light during the weekend in Prague will be presented before an expert jury composed of professionals from both non-governmental and commercial circles. The solution should be feasible, effective, sustainable and beneficial to society as a whole.
Throughout the event, participants will have physical or online access to a wide range of well-established mentors who have been involved in or take part in tackling social issues or business as part of their professions.
“During the weekend, participants will also be able to reach out to Saar Francken, an expert on the issues at hand from the Centre for Social Innovation at the University of Cambridge,” adds organizer Ivana Šenitková from the Za lepší život v Praze initiative (For a better life in Prague).
Radek Habl, founder of a debt-related confiscation map will be present as well as mentors from the international Ashoka organization which supports and connects social innovators across the globe. Finally, participants will also be advised by representatives of the Sozial Marie organization which awards exceptional projects in the field of social innovation.
The main prize winner will receive full-service participation at the Ashoka European Changemaker Summit 2019 conference. Participants will also get a chance to win consultations on the future development of their solutions with event partners as well as other interesting prizes.
