Slovakian Vehicle Production Short by Half of 2021 Targets

As 2022 starts, Slovakian car manufacturers acknowledge that they fell short of their projected performance goals. According to the Slovak Automotive Industry Association, at least one-million vehicles ought to have been manufactured in 2021, however, Slovakia’s four major manufacturers (Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Stellantis, & Volkswagen) only produced approximately 550,000 cars. The production shortfall is the result of a range of challenges throughout the pandemic including, but not limited to, inflated energy prices generally, high raw material prices, and specifically magnesium shortages.
