AdBlue exhaust fluid is seeing an increase in price, halting some of the buses and cars that need the vital fluid. Globally high natural gas prices are causing the increase AdBlue prices as well since natural gas is one of its main ingredients. Vehicles using AdBlue use it to reduce emissions while driving on the road.
Some stations are reporting that they are low on AdBlue already. If the situation worsens, one measure being considered is to halt the exportation of the product until the situation improves domestically. The reduction of exports could put the petrol market in jeopardy because of the lack of supply of AdBlue. Slovakia would then see a loss in net exports which in turn could affect their GDP recovery coming out of the COVID pandemic.
