Polish unemployment inches up to 5.9% in December: labour ministry

Registered unemployment in Poland inched up to 5.9 percent in December, the country’s labour ministry has said.

There were 971,000 people without jobs at the end of last year, the ministry said.

Unemployment in Poland in November held steady at 5.7 percent, unchanged from the previous two months, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said at the end of last year.

That reading was a notch lower than an earlier estimate by the country’s labour minister.
